What does PKU stand for?

phenyllketonuria- I believe it's a disease that causes mental retardation in children

Just so you know, Phenylketonuria does not cause mental retardation in children today. There is a special low protein diet and a metabolic formula that can prevent this today when PKU is detected by the Newborn Screening (a blood test at birth).
