Can PID or STD have No symptoms??

I have asked in different ways. Still not clear. I wonder if you can have PID and/or STD that is completely silent, no syptoms? How do you get diagnosed with PID if it is silent. I voiced my concerns at gyn exam and was brushed off. She said I would know if I had it cause it's very painful. I have heard otherwise. Can I demand treatment for PID even with out syptoms. MY concerns are because I had unprotected sex, and abortion at 17 , now 30, afraid I am sterile from PID or abortion.

Std's can have no symptoms but PID definately has symptoms. PID is caused by a vaginal infection that was not treated and has spread to your fallopian tubes etc. It causes immense pain and usually puts you in the hospital the pain and symptoms are that bad. You could have had and STD thought with no symptoms or yes the abortion could have messed something up. You cannot demand treatment for PID when you don't have it. They can test for vaginal infections and since you obviously don't have one there is not way if could have spread to your other organs when you have no vaginal infection. Also to find out if you are sterile or not you would need to see a specialist. If you are not getting pregnant do not assume that you are sterile and don't know it. I was 30 when I got married and went off the pill. It took a couple YEARS for me to get pregnant and when I did I wound up having a miscarriage, It took another full year before I got pregnant again and had my son................well after he was born along came my daugher 10 3/4 months later so anything is possible. Mind you I worked graveyard shift and my husband worked days plus was a heavy drinker and spent lots of time downtown playing cards, darts and pool etc while drinking. You seem bitter that your doc won't treat you for a condition that you don't have so consider either seeing a specialist to find out what is wrong or at least try to get on with your life. PID is caused by an infection that you do not have. If you want to be tested for STD's then ask your doc to test you for STD's so you know for sure if you do or don't have one.

Your doctor is right, PID is usually painful. However, tPID is usually caused by a bad case of gonnorhea or chlamydia that spreads into the upper reproductive organs. Chlamydia and gonnorhea can often be asymptomatic in women especially. Chlamydia and gonnorhea would be detected by a simple swab test that they can do when they do your pap smear. If you're most worried about having contracted it at 17, my guess(I'm not a doctor) is that the damage to your fertility would already be done. Usually what happens is there is scarring in one or both of your fallopian tubes from the pelvic infection which makes it difficult or impossible for an egg to pass through. Get tested for gonnorhea and chlamydia, if you haven't already, if you test positive then worry about PID.

its possible but unlikely ive got pid had it for 5 years and im constantly in pain, have a look on google for the symptoms and if you even had one or two then say youre worried you could have it, they shouldnt refuse an exam because its very serious. but i doubt you have it cos as they said you will know if you do.
