PID? Please help.?

I have recently been told that 3 years ago when i had cylamidia that i also got PID but this has only been treated a week ago. everything i have been told or read says that the longer you have it the worse your tubes get. i am panaking that i may not be able to have children. me and my partner are not ready to try but have decided to in 2 years time - is this too late and what else can i do to see how much damage has been done because the doctor says there is nothing her can do.

i hadnt heard of PID and i though once the cylamidia was cleared that was the end of it just to be more careful in the future. if i had known i would have got treated for it. I am extremely mad with the clinic that treated me for cylamidia i think they should have told me all the risks ect...

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease.
Your research has been correct, the longer you have the disease the higher the risk of becoming sterile. You may want to suggest to your OBGYN that you would like to have exploratory surgery to see if in fact your tubes have been scarred. This can be done laproscopically and requires no down time generally. If the provider you are seeing is not willing to do it, for a reason that you are not satisfied with, exercise your right to seek good health care and get a second or even a third opinion.

...why did you wait so long?!

Pelvic Inflammatory disease is not necessarily caused by an STD. You can get it from douching as well as STD's. I would say that the PID did not occur as a result of an STD 3 years ago. You would have had noticeable symptoms long before this. I think you'll be okay. Chronic or untreated infection can lead to tubal scarring, but I doubt this is the case for you.
