16 years old with PID..I have questions.. I'm scared?

I'm 16 years old, and recently I was told that I have PID, i was put on Doxycycline 100mg, twice a day, and also had an injection of Rocephin.. I'm really scared I have really heavy bleeding right now, I had bad abdominal pain, but its mostly gone.. and I don't have any burning or itching, and I never did and I just want to know if the Doxycycline is going to really help me or not? I've been on it for 5 days now I'm just really scared about everything and I want to know how long does PID ususally take to clear up, and is the really heavy bleeding normal? I wasn't well informed about this at all.. I'm just freaking out..any information would really help!

Here's the general regimen:

Ceftriaxone (Rocephin) is given one time as an injection in a muscle. Doxycycline is taken as pills twice a day for 14 days. Doxycycline is not used if you are pregnant. Avoid prolonged sun exposure while taking doxycycline.

Side Effects

The common side effects of the antibiotics recommended for PID include:

Nausea or vomiting.
Diarrhea.
Rash.
Headache.
Fatigue.
Dizziness.
Yeast infection.
Each antibiotic medication for PID may have specific side effects or interactions with other medications.

If side effects from the medication treatment occur, report them to your health professional. Other antibiotics may be prescribed that cause fewer side effects.
A follow-up examination should be performed 2 to 3 days after you start treatment. You should have less pain and tenderness during an abdominal and pelvic exam. Follow-up exams at 7 to 10 days and 4 to 6 weeks are usually recommended to make sure treatment is successful.

Pain is present in more than 90% of documented cases and is by far the most common presenting symptom.

It seems that what you're feeling now is part of the PID. The antibiotic regiment is abt 14 days - I would call your ObGyn in the morning and tell them what's going on. You may need to go in if your symptoms aren't improving. BTW, PID is generally a result of being exposed to clymidia and gonorrhea. Please do not have unprotected sex again.
