Oh Dear....PID...anyone had this before???

PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) I know what it is, so please don't explain to me what it is! Thank you kindly!

How bad....if you've had it or had a close friend or family member that had it? What happened after (the results)? Don't ask if I have it, Im just curious about anyones experience. Thanks!

I had PID after my first son was born. I got cute and decided I wanted an IUD to prevent me from getting pregnant. What can I say I was young and foolish. The pain was almost unbearable and I have scarring on my fallopian tubes. Later when I was trying to get pregnant my tubes were blocked because of the scarring from the PID. I went through years of infertility and finally had to have an hysterosalopinogram to find out what was wrong with me. One tube is still blocked but I eventually had 2 other sons.

I did not have as I am a male. My wife suffered a lot and I had consulted some gynocologist and seen the cure. I am just menionig here what I have seen and learnt.

PID can cause scarring inside the reproductive organs, which can later cause serious complications, including chronic pelvic pain, infertility (difficulty becoming pregnant), ectopic pregnancy (the leading cause of pregnancy-related deaths in adult females), and other dangerous complications of pregnancy. Multiple infections and infections that are treated later are more likely to result in complications.

Persons with infertility may wish to see a specialist, because there may be a possibility in restoring fertility after scarring. Traditionally tuboplastic surgery was the main approach to correct tubal obstruction or adhesion formation, however success rates tended to be very limited. In vitro fertilization (IVF) was developed to bypass tubal problems and has become the main treatment for patients who want to become pregnant.

Treatment depends on the cause and generally involves use of antibiotic therapy. See specific diseases for treatment. Treatment may take longer than other infections especially if an abscess has developed. Insufficient dose, wrong drug or drug resistance, or too short duration of treatment may lead to continued symptoms/infection/complications. Treating partners for STD's is a very important part of treatment and prevention. Hospitalization may be necessary if Tubo-ovarian abscess, very ill, immunodeficient, pregnancy, incompetence, or because this or something else life threatening can not be ruled out.

I had it several yrs ago. They put me on an antibiotic for about a week. After I took the course of antibiotic, I was feeling good again.
