Help with a question on PID/chlamidia?

hi, i thought i had chlamidia and i thought i may have had it for some time but went for a test and was negative, could this becuase it has turned to pid and now its worse? can you detect pid with a chlamidia test?

Was it a swab you had?If so and it was negative this tells us you do not currently have chlamidia,It is recommended to also have a blood test which will tell us if you have ever had the infection.If you still feel unsure visit your doctor again.

Pelvic inflammatory disease is infection of the upper female genital tract: the cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries; abscesses may occur. Common symptoms and signs include lower abdominal pain, cervical discharge, and irregular vaginal bleeding. Long-term complications include infertility, chronic pelvic pain, and ectopic pregnancy. Diagnosis includes PCR of cervical specimens for Neisseria gonorrhoeae and chlamydiae, microscopic examination of cervical discharge (usually), and ultrasonography or laparoscopy (occasionally). Treatment is with antibiotics.
Signs and tests for PID:
You may have a fever and abdominal tenderness. A pelvic examination may show that you have cervical discharge, pain with movement of the cervix during the exam, a cervix that bleeds easily, or uterine or ovarian tenderness.
Tests and procedures may include:
* WBC
* ESR (sed rate)
* Wet prep or wet mount microscopic examination
* Serum HCG (pregnancy test)
* Endocervical culture for gonorrhea, chlamydia, or other organisms
* Laparoscopy
* Pelvic ultrasound or CT scan
Please see the web pages for more details on Pelvic inflammatory disease.
