Question about PID...?

About 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with PID. The doctor explained to me that it is not always an STD, but that is the most common reason. That's not my question, really. My question is, he explained it to me, but I'm not totally understanding one aspect. Once you get treated, is it gone, totally gone....or does it come back? You know, since it's considered an STD. Basically, is it like HIV...you can treat the symptoms, but the disease isn't cureable?

Doctor told me mine wasn't due to STD, I had bacterial vaginosis my entire pregnancy and stayed on constant treatment. He blamed it for the cause. I do not, nor have I ever had any other "STD'S".

Once you take care of what is causing the PID then it will not come back unless you get another infection and don't recognize the symptoms promptly. PID is caused by infections that are not treated promptly causing the infection to spread to your female organs. Normally people get things treated promptly but sometimes an discharge or other symptom might get ignored if someone thinks it is normal or is to embarrassed to see the doc and hopes it will clear up on it's own etc. When it doens't get treated promptly that is when it spreads causing PID.

PID means Pelvic Inflammatory Disease.
It can be a result of a number of infections including but not exclussive to STDs. Its easily treated with Antibiotics and its easily cured. There are few chances of reccurence unless there is Trauma as the cause then the trauma has to be treated too.
If the Doc told you it wont come back, 99% chances are it wont. If you are worried you could just do an STD test to rule out STDs as the cause of the PID.

I hope this is able to help.
