So, is it PID?

OK--- I didn't really have sexual intercourse and any skin to skin penetration or any kind. I've been told my symptoms might be a PID.

yellow discharge
discomfort and sudden pain of breasts
and a lot of pelvic pain
Could this be anything else other than Pelvic inflammatory disease? PLEAAAAAASE HELP!

While many cases of PID are the result of a sexually transmitted infection, sexual activity is NOT necessary for PID to develop. ANY prolonged infection in the reproductive tract can result in PID.

Yes, your symptoms sound very much like PID. If your doctor or clinician diagnosed it as such, I'd consider that to be a valid diagnosis.

PID can be cured by curing the underlying infection. So if it's a prolonged bout of bacterial vaginosis (BV, aka Gardnerella infection) that caused your PID, then get the meds to cure the BV. Other notable causes of PID can be Chlamydia and gonorrhea. Either case, your doctor needs to figure out the underlying infection and medicate you accordingly.

PID can be scary because in about 20% of cases (or more if you have had PID on multiple occasions), it leads to infertility. PID causes infertility by clogging the reproductive tract (Fallopian tubes, uterus) with scar tissue. A pelvic exam can determine the extent of the damage in your reproductive tract. In some cases, it may be mild and you'll be able to bear children. In more severe cases, you may need to rely on assisted reproductive technologies to have kids (in vitro, surrogates, etc.).

Anyway, follow up with the doctor and good luck!

Hi, your symptoms can be lots of things; but you most definitely need to visit a local clinic as soon as humanly possible. You can have anything from an ectopic pregnancy, to PID, to gonoreah--but you MUST get a PELVIC EXAM and PAP SMEAR. A Pelvic Exam will determine if you have PID--a pap smear only tests you for cervical cancer.
If you dont have health insurance, you can call your local Planned Parenthood or your local Department of Health.

Listen, if you do have PID--you need to be treated soon. I just read an article in the newest Cosmopolitam Magazine (with Eva Longorio on the cover) that PID will leave you unable to have kids, and that most women who've had chymadia and PID are unable to have kids.

Good Luck and go to a doctor--like tomorrow.
