Deos PID cause IBS? help?? |
does pelvic inflammatory desease cause or worsen irrytable bowl sydrom? I don't think PID would cause IBS, but the adhesions and problems associated with PID could definitely aggrivate the situation. Women with IBS often have symptoms associated with their monthy cycle, and with PID the misery would certainly just be compounded. I had a roommate with both conditions, and her IBS temporarily improved when she took the antibiotics to treat the PID. It was not a permanent cure, by any means, but her symptoms did go away for a while. Eventually she had surgery to remove some of the adhesions, and took BCP's to help regulate her cycles, and also noticed a letting up of the worst of the troubles with her IBS. That probably was just because one misery had been treated, and at least only one thing made her feel crampy. But she'd had IBS before she had PID, so you can definitely say in her case, PID did not cause the IBS. |
