Do they do PET scans for schizophrenia on the NHS or is there research into schizophrenia that involves scans? |
That i can be involved with They do PET scans on the NHS for schizophrenia but usually after you've been somewhat diagonosed and the results of that scan may be used for research. I am not sure if they do but it might be an idea to contact a university as a volunteer and sometimes you can get them for free. Sorry I can't answer your question but I am interested in the anwers you may get - my son has ADHD and apparently the front of the brain is different to a normal brain, a scan would show the difference but again is it available on the NHS as diagnosis is made by observation. No. Diagnosing schizophrenia does not need any sort of scan. The way the mind works corresponds very greatly with what comes out of people's mouths. Any shrink worth his salt does not need a PET scan to diagnose this condition. |
