My fiance (who is a breast cancer survivor in late 20s) recently had a routine PET scan a year and a half after having a mastectomy and treatment for the cancer. Apparently something showed in the pelvic area to where she needs a colonoscopy to double check. They also want her to have a gyno exam. What could be the reasoning for the gyno exam? The gynecologist will be able to exam your fiance and evaluate if there are any abnormalities with the ovaries. He/she may even order a pelvic u/s to get a better view of the ovaries. It could be that the image isnt very clear and they are unsure where the "something" is...; she supposed to have a gyno exam every year..the cancer can come back some where else in the body... |
