Can you get an elective PET (positron emission tomography )scan any where in Australia, preferably Melbourne? |
My mum has had cancer in the past and would like to get a full body PET scan for peace of mind but has been refused one when requested via a doctor because she is not high risk! She is willing to pay all costs, so I would appreciate your advice. Thanks. The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne has a PET scan machine. Whether they will do an elective PET scan is something you would have to ask them. They probably would if you had symptoms of cancer. Austin Hospital & Peter McCallum Cancer Centre both do PET scans but I doubt that they are available without a medical referal. |
