Can a PET scan be useful for Breast cancer? Definitely!! PET scans are approved by medicare for staging purposes in certain cancers, and breast cancer is one of them. Yes. But the most useful so far is ultrasound and mammography. Not that I'm aware of; also, third parties wouldn't reimbure for PET of the breast -- it's hard enough to get them to pay for PETs of the brain.
