I am having a Pet Scan soon but, i am planning on having some marijuana a few days before, will it show up? |
A pet scan is like a MRI. Also I am having a Complete Blood Count a few days after that. Will the THC show up in that? No a PET scan is simply much like an x-ray but more in depth. What the PET scan does is it shows where the blood is flowing to certain areas of the body and may show unusually masses and such. Marijuana use would not show up in a PET scan. Hi Sweetie, Pot smoked directly prior to the exam may affect a PET Scan of the brain. If you are having a PET scan for brain-related problems (seizures, dementia, etc...) I don't recommend it. The vast majority of PET scans are performed for oncologic (cancer) reasons and don't include the brain anyway. |
