How long is the ideal time between one PET scan to another? |
It is for a patient undergoing tumor treatment. Female age 73. I noted that the previous question asked about CT scans, now PET scans. It appears that there is many questions that you have about your scans and treatment. It is usually 1 year between PET scans. However, if the, doctor suspects there is unusual progression, he may want to perform another. Each case is different. The question is: Does your insurance allow PET scans close together? Most insurance companies have a Utilization Review company to review the need for additional scan. If in doubt, check with the radiologist and your insurance company. Good Luck and I hope this helps.
