My Dad Has Had 2 Chest xrays,a cat scan and now a pet scan. Are they looking for cancer and if so what are the? |
I Just want to know if they are pretty sure he has cancer or if this is just to cover there *** and make sure he don't.Has anyone been through this? They say he has 3 large lumps in his chest. No pain or any other signs of anything, very very healthy man in his mid 60's..No smart *** answers please. Often the primary site of a cancer is never found. The mets may show up in the lymph nodes, liver, lung or elsewhere but the original cancer might never be found. I hope that your dad is not in this situation since the ultimate prognosis would be poor. There are a lot of things that they could be looking for other than cancer - there are a lot of things in the chest cavity other than the lungs. there are a lot of things that do not have symptoms that could cause problems. If they know they have lumps to contend with, then they are dealing with something - they just aren't sure what - and they are not simply trying to "cover their asses" - they are doing their best to make an accurate diagnosis and thus, determine the best course of treatment. cancer lumps are not painful and they might be looking too see if they are in fact cancer or cysts or somethings else they have to check ..have they taken a biopsy yet? thats the most important part to get that done that determines if the lumps are benign or not I went through the same thing--the PET SCAN will only show up where there is cancer--it isn't unheard of not to have pain with cancer especially in the early stages-- they are pretty sure when they do a PET SCAN---- |
