Can mri detect person with trauma? or PET scan? Pet has no place in trauma. MRIs are used usually in brain trauma causes after a CT scan is done. The first choice usually is xray then CT and then MRI. It depneds on the trauma. Physical trauma- certainly. Mental trauma- probably not. |

I don't think PET scans are harmful. The radioactive dye they put in you might be. I was having PET scans once a quarter when I was being treated. I still have one every year. Best wishes...
