when you get your first pap smear and you're sexually active whats all they test for? A pap smear just tests for changes in the cervical cells. It is really a screening for cervical cancer. If you would like them to test for STDs you should let your doctor/ gynecologist know. they are looking for changes in cervical cells....they aren't testing for STD's unless you ask specifically for that.....however....depending on where you live, your doctor may now test for HPV, but again, you would have to ask. |
