Pap smear?

i dnt kno if thats how you spell it but anyways what do they do for that? is it painful..i have my 1st one next week..and im kinda scared so plesae let me know!

There is a bit of pain, just a little pinch. Afterwards, there is some soreness for a couple days, but it isn't as bad as cramps.

The pap smear and pelvic exam is physically uncomfortable. Fortunately, it only lasts about 2 minutes.

The pap smear tests for abnormal cells which could lead to cervical cancer. The rest of the pelvic exam checks the overall health of your reproductive organs.

nah, its a little embarrasing lol.. but not painful at all...

It does not hurt.

It certainly isn't the most pleasant experience in the world, however it is necessary.

Don't worry about it, we all go through it many many times through life. Just remember the doctor has seen it all before. They have done it a million times. It is completely painless, just a little uncomfortable.

don't be scared =the Dr has you undress from waist down =he's out of room at time a nurse will come in and help you to get set up for the Dr to insert a long q-tip like thing to do a smear=as long as you relax it will not hurt =you can have your Mom with you if you want=that's your right

It's quite normal to be scared but there really is nothing to it. You will do fine. Pick a spot on the ceiling and concentrate on that spot and it will be over with before you know it. Just try to relax as much as possible and don't tense up because that makes it painful.

Papsmear is a procedure where in cervical
discharge or specimen is taken out from the cervix to detect for cervical cancer. In this proceedure, you will be ask to separate your legs, vaginal speculum is inserted, a small brush or scraper is inserted towards cervix to get some discharge or specimen,
it will be spread to a slide for evaluation.

It is understandable that you are scared, I was too! I was around 15 when I had my first pap. Im not going to lie it is a little awkward, but if your gynocolgist is anything like mine they will talk you through it and explain what they are doing. The only discomfort that you will feel is that you may experience abdominal cramping! nothing more than a cramp you would feel if you were on your period!

Good Luck and Relax
