Abnormal Pap Smear and Deep Sex? |
My doctor recently told me that my first pap smear (ever that is) came back abnormal, and that the most common cause was HPV. This scares me half to death even though I have only ever been with 2 people (I'm 21) and admittedly had unprotected sex. However, I've read that inflammation can skew the numbers on the pap smear to appear abnormal. If I've been having rough, deep sex (to the point where some cervix pain can be felt and we have to slow down) cause my pap smear to be abnormal? I'm pretty sure I had sex the weekend before my exam (on a thursday) if not a couple of days before. And yes, I'm aware I need to go back to my doctor to get a colposcopy, but even with my insurance the exam is $800, which I don't have right now since I am unemployed students focusing on her studies. Any advice is greatly appreciated. HPV is just the virus that causes cervical cancer, even not having contracted HPV is not an indicator that Cervical Cancer will happen, and having HPV is not an indicator either. i still think u should ask ur mom and dad for money just to go and check it out again just to be safe hope this helps i have the bracelet lol.. sex (no matter how you do it) is not going to cause you to have an abnormal pap smear. I'm sorry, but if the test says HPV then thats probably what it is. Having sex isn't going to make a bacterial disease pop up on a test unless you have it! So you better start treating it so it don't lead to cancer! No the rough sex will not cause an abnormal pap smear. An infection like severe cervicitis might cause it. You need to go find someone to loan you the money for the colposcopy as HPV can cause cancer. WHat good are your studies if you wind up having cancer and need treatments like chemo or radiation? I am also not sure why you didn't get a pap smear for the last 3 years?? Find any way you can to get that colposcopy done ASAP as you health is far more important than you studies. HPV and cancer can be serious things if you don't get them treated promptly. That's something you don't want to toy around with. Talk to your hospital financial center. They can set up monthly payments or something. My ex had that done for an 1000 emergency examination. My first pap also came back abnormal. It was recommended to me that I have repeat paps every few months for about 6-12 months. Every pap after that first one came back normal. As has every pap since then. |

no relax, some women get abnormal ones all the time, usually if its a level one it goes on its own, yours at 16 must have, cos if it was higher they would have treated you back then your dr wouldv... But if your relax there is no stress on the muscle so it won't hurt. just remember... |
