Wet Smear/Pap Smear?

I recently had a wet smear which is like a pap smear but the difference is it checks for STD's as well. I was tested to be negative. However, I would like to know if anyone knows if the wet smears check for ALL STD'S or just some. STD such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital herpes, etc.

any tests done are ordered by your doctor. Depending on the doctor & any symptoms you may have reported, he may have just looked for certain ones. HIV is usually a blood test, as opposed to a pap. Call your doctor & ask. It's your health & you have a right & responsibility to have the real answers.

being a female im not sure if it test for all of them or not....i know that it test for quite a few.

A pap smear is a smear sent to the pathology lab specifically looking for cervical cancer changes/pre-changes etc.... The process of being examined in the Lithotomy position (i.e. with feet in stirrups, lying on your back) is not in itself the "pap test" as I've heard many people say.
A 'wet mount' is when the clinician uses a swab (like a long Q tip) to get a sample of vaginal fluid/discharge, then swipes it on a slide and examines it under the microscope. It will be helpful in diagnosing yeast infections, bacterial vaginois (neither of which is an STD) and also Trichomonas. Other STD's are checked for with blood test, urine tests (now the standard for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia) or swabs sent to lab. Those tests have to be specifically asked for when ordering the tests. One doesn't just send a specimen to the lab and ask for "STD's".
