Pap smear and nuvaring..? |
i am going for my first pap smear next week...i have to admit i been putting it off for a long time! i hate going to the gyno when i go he just does a pelvic exam and that is it... now i finally decided to go with one of my friends to try to make it better for me...thing is that i am on the nuvaring (a birthcontrol method that requires u to place a ring inside your vagina) and i would like to know if the nuvaring can cause a change in the outcome of my test results...and can anyone help me with my fear of pap smears...and going to a gyno...thanks so much! The Nuva Ring will not effect the results of a pap smear. A pap smear is a sample of cells from around the cervix and inside the cervix. The Nuva Ring sits anywhere inside the vagina, it will not cause abnormal changes to your cervix. I was really nervous my first time as well but I let the doctor know that it was my first time. She said ok and then talked me through the entire thing and let me know exactly what she was doing before she even did it. It really helped out a lot and even though it is uncomfortable it doesn't hurt. I really have no idea about the nuva ring though. Let the doctor know about that too, they will know if it will affect. |
