Abnormal pap smear results?

got a pelvic and my first pap smear last tuesday night. So it has been exactly a week tonight and I was wondering since the policy for my doctor is to call if something is wrong, do you think I would have heard from them by now if the pap happened to be abnormal? I am just paranoid is the main reason I'm worried. For those who have had abnormal pap results, how long after your appointment did the doctor call you? Thanx

pap smears are very inaccurate. You should not put all your faith in those results. if they come back abnormal then there are more accurate tests. like a PET scan. the insurance co. don't like to use this better more accurate test because it costs more and besides everyone knows that the insurance companies are only out for the money, people's lives don't matter.

That is a lousy policy on the doctors side - You should get a call good or bad, what is to say the results were not just misplaced. Call and ask for the results. One week should be enough time to get the results unless you are in an area with few lab options.

Pap results take about a week or so to come back. Call the docs office and ask them about yours. Despite the whole paranoid thing about them not being accurate, they have helped save thousands of women's lives, that's why its important to have them done regularly.

Mine have always been normal until last year. I had two colposcopys(sp) done and both of them turned up nothing. My doctor likes to double check. Abnormal results rarely mean cancer. It took them about 10 days to call me.
It used to be that no news is good news, now they call regardless and I like that policy much better.

I had my yearly done yesterday and I'm hoping for good results!!
