LGSIL - Abnormal pap smear?

I had an abnormal pap smear - LGSIL the dr. called it. It is caused by HPV. Then, I had a colposcopy but the dr said everthing was fine. I just went for another pap this morning & the dr. doesn't seem very concerned abt anything. She said the pap is a screening test & since the colposcopy was fine, I'm ok. Does anyone know the chances of getting cancer if someone had an abnormal pap and hpv? According to the dr. 80% of women will have hpv at some point in their life but most just work it out in their system. Anyone have any thoughts, suggestions about this situation?

This same exact thing happened to me, it ended up straightening itself out, and my paps and cells became normal. Although with me I was referred to a specialist and underwent even more tests, be glad that didn't happen to you, the colposcopy was painful enough. I think you'll be ok, good luck, hope this helps!

I know many women that have had this and are fine after many years. You are obligated to regular pap smears and checkups however.

just because your carrying HPV 4ever, doesnt mean that you will develop something more serious. if the doctor isnt too concerned it's because it came out negative. If you, however feel like your not being treated correctly then see someone else
