I just bought an ozone purifier. Can I use it with an infant in the home? |
Worried about ozone level affecting my daughter. But I want the advantage of clean oxygenated air. I agree with the previous answer, while ozone is a powerful cleaning agent, it has also been proven to be harmful. I am a certified Indoor Air Quality professional and I recently wrote an article about things to consider in a home air purifier: Personally, I don't recommend ozone to anybody who isn't using it to remove sulfur content from their water... Ozone is NOT good stuff, it can cause sore throats, among other minor respiratory problems... I imagine that in a high enough concentration it could cause death, but the amount put out by an ozinator isn't that high... but it could make you or your child uncomfortable. I think you'd be better off with a regular air purifier with an ionizer built in. That should be safe. |
