Can anyone explain to me how temperature and humidity affect the level of ozone at ground level?

I realize and have observed how under certain conditions the ozone is choking and on other days, it is not too bad. I want to know what to look for, so I can avoid going out on those days. I have severe asthma...

I can't always trust the ozone forecast in my area...

Tropospheric, or ground-level, ozone forms primarily from reactions between two major classes of air pollutants: volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). These reactions depend on the presence of heat and sunlight, meaning more ozone forms in the summer months.

I would think it has to do with Boyle's Law. Boyle's Law involves a relationship between three properties of a gas. Volume, Pressure and Temperature. In the summer months the air temperature will increase. This will effect the volumes and pressure of gas in the air.

I hope this helps.

hot days allow more hydrocarbons to be released into the air.Add high humidity to the mix and the smog becomes heavy. this is due to the fact that with high humidity the air is saturated and thus won't allow the emmissions to escape into the atmosphere holding them closer to the ground making everything look hazy. people with lung and or breathing problems should try to stay indoors in the air conditioning on these days. if you need to go outdoors make it quick as possible and wearing a dust mask might help keep some of the pollutants out of your lungs .
