Ionic purifiers: is removing ozone a bad thing?

as advertised, ionic purifiers turn smog and ozone into pure oxygen. Well isn't ozone that thing in the air that protects us from harmful UV rays? So if it is bad, why do they advertise it so proudly?

Ionic purifiers are for in home use. Being in home use there are little to no harmful UV rays to worry about, so removing the ozone impurities inside your home for healthier less allergin filled air is ok. As the air moves back outside, its ionic make up is constantly changing therefore will regain its state before it passed through your Ionic purifier. Ultimately, unless everyone were running hundreds of this outside 24 hours a day, they have no impact on the ozone.
