If the hole in the ozone layer is getting bigger how come we don't simply fry and die?

I agree with all of the above - I believe that it is too easy to brush this problem under the carpet because we can't see it directly from our cosy siting rooms. We need to start taking responsibility for our actions, personal as well as global. We can make a difference, but we have to be prepared to change.

Well that's the problem - we will, given enough time. And its no joke; Unless the human race can adapt to what is happening and stop destroying the global systems that protect us we will 'fry and die'.

We do! Just try staying in the sun in Oz for any length of time and see how you feel! If the skin cancer doesnt get you the heat stroke will. We have a big hole in our ozone layer here. The govt has spent millions educating people in a campaign called "slip, slop, slap" Slip on a shirt, slop on some suncream & slap on a hat" There's a bit of Oz trivia for you!

Have you not noticed the drastic increase in skin cancers? At the moment the hole in the ozone is centered over antarctica. There have been reports of some serious exposure in a very short period of time due to the hole drifting over Austrailia briefly. If you think the depletion of the ozone layer is not a major issue try taking the door off of your microwave oven and stand in front of it while its running. Essentially the same outcome. The ozone layer does block radiation. Take it away and the radiation gets to you. Just because you can't see it doesnt mean its not frying your skin. I, personally think it will repair itself if we get control of pollution. Its really not something I lose sleep over but it does affect the health of everyone.

We are slowly but surely all of our polar Ice caps are melting winters are getting milder these things are not coincidence.

First know that is not at all a hole.its a thin layer in ozone layer. we just named it as hole. that's thin due to depletion of ozone layer due pollution.

Of course, many environmentalists don't know the facts and it doesn't help that some think that doing whatever is trendy is actually helping the environment. Example?
