I have a air purifier that has a HEPA filter it has an ionizer on/off switch will it produce ozone?

I have birds is it safe to have the ionizer on?

The Bionaire makes HEPA air purifiers that do not have ionizers. Ionizers do produce ozone, some at unsafe levels.

We have a parakeet. The ionizer does not bother him at all. You need an ozone generator to make ozone; an ionizer makes ions.
