Are there any dentists in the US that use ozone treatment for cavities? |
Are there any dentists in the US that use ozone treatment for cavities? Currently accepted theories regarding the formation of caries are based on acid dissolution of enamel and dentin. The acid usually is associated bacterial fermentation of dietary sugars. I believe I have heard of proposed use of ozone as a caries treatment. How is it produced? My guess is that ozone treatment would be used to inhibit oral bacteria? If this is the case it is probably more costly and time consuming than currently advocated remedies such as toothbrushing, changes in the diet, fluoride application, etc. I am in dental school and have not heard or read of the use of ozone in caries treatment. |
