What can I take over the counter for overactive bladder?

I wake up 4-5 times a night to go to the bathroom. What can I take besides sleeping pills OTC???

Try to get a prescription for Ditropan. (oxybutin)...yes, it is prescription but it is wonderful. We use it for bladder spasms, over active bladder...frequency.

Make sure you don't have a urinary tract infection. Does your urine smell foul? If so...you need the doctor for antibiotics. It won't go away.

Drinking less soda and more cranberry juice diluted w/water can help. (make it less than 25% juice). Increase your water intake before 6pm ...no drinks after that.

Short term pyridium can help (medications that are for urgency)...just remember that it will discolor urine and won't work forever. (this is over the counter and tends to be near the feminine products section).

Why not figure out why you have the problem? If you just have had lots of kids in years past....remember that the medications for retention are only 1 or 2 times a day and won't cost so much. Sleep is worth a million dollars.
