Can Bladder problems be phychological?

hi

I was told I have an overactive bladder by the doctor, nothing like this has ever happened to me before, I was just wondering when you have an overactive bladder and you go to the toilet loads more does your bodie adjust itself so you go more times?

The urge seems more apparent when I far away from the toilet, like the car for example yet when I'm just at home I can hold it for loads longer

whats the best way to help the bladder store more fluids without the urge to keep going?

thank you :)

I think there's a prescription you can get for this condition. I've seen it advertised on tv before...

How much water, juice, or coffee and tea are you drinking each day? Eight ounces, 6 times a day is enough. Also cut out for awhile any beverages with caffeine: coffee, tea, coke, pepsi, mountain dew (it is loaded). They irritate the bladder.

By all means get to your family doctor or to your primary care physician. He needs to check you out for diabetes. I hope that he refers you to a urologist. If it is a case of overactive bladder, there are good medications. But to rule out other causes, a urologist is necessary. What you have is very troublesome. There may also be anxiety involved thus making the physical condition worse. But which came first the anxiety or the overactive bladder? You may need some psychotherapy if no physical basis for your overactive bladder is determined.

Meanwhile in your pharmacy or grocery store there are sold protective absorbent underwear you can buy and wear under your underwear. Look for the incontinence shelves. You will be able to relieve some of your bladder full until you can get to a men's room.
