thank you for helping and sorry for lousey typing and spelling

Hi I am an RN. You sound like you have an overactive bladder. I don't think you need to worry but keep your doctor's appointment. They have medications to slow down the bladder contractions. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and make sure the doctor takes a urine sample and checks for infection just in case...so you only have to go once! Good Luck!

Yes I have went though this and been told it was still a kidney infection. Yes get a second opinion

It could be an overactive bladder but I am not sure if that would have come on so suddenly. Since it is affecting your sleep you do need to find out what is going on. Did the original doc do a urinalysis? If he did that is fine but if he didn't I would go now and get one done. As for you spelling and typing this has spell check right above the box where you type. ( Just an FYI) Good Luck

This could be a number of things such as a bladder infection, kidney infection, over active bladder, or you could even be diabetic. The only one that could diagnose you is a doctor so, I would go and get a second opinion. The girl above me has no room to talk about grammer and spelling.

Overactive bladder, maybe. You said you aren't really drinking more than usual, but I'm curious. Have you been more tired lately? Have you had an unusual amount of weight loss? The reason I am asking is that excessive urination with some of these other symptoms are signs of diabetes. When your blood sugar level goes higher you get more thirsty, more tired, and you urinate a lot. Long bouts of higher blood sugars lead to weight loss also.

If you were a guy, I'd be advising you to get your prostate checked as frequent urination is a symptom of prostate enlargement.

However, in your case, I would recommend getting checked for diabetes or pre-diabetes. Oftentimes, diabetics need to urinate frequently as their bodies try to flush the sugars that their bodies can no longer properly cope with.

If the diagnosis is in fact (pre-)diabetes, don't panic. Stress is a leading contributor to disease and worrying is a useless activity. I personally believe that most diabetics can reverse the disease by taking the right steps toward eating and supplementing properly, exercising regularly, getting quality sleep, etc.

Regards,
Rob

P.S. Don't be afraid to throw a period (.) in between your sentences. :)

I have this problem too. Frequent urination at night is very common with a lot of women. And you are right, it's probably an over active bladder (which is what I have) since an infection was ruled out. They have this pill they prescribe for it which helps some. Also I"ve noticed, that if you are overweight, it puts more pressure against your bladder while you are laying down (which would explain why you only experience this at night.). Because now that I have lost 20 lbs, I rarely experience this as I did while being overweight. Good luck!

get a mean blood glucose test, have your doc check for sugar spillage in urine

I might have responded to your last post. Frequent urination could be caused by a lot of things...

Common:
Caffeine consumption
Alcohol consumption
Drinking too much water
Too much salt (body will want to get rid of it - but you would have increased thirst)
Too much sugar
Diabetes mellitus
Overactive Bladder
Stress
Pregnancy
Urinary Tract infection

Uncommon:
Diabetes Insepitus (usually caused by a pituitary tumor)
Hypercalcemia (usually caused by bone cancer)
Ovarian tumor (pressing against bladder causing urges)
Renal Failure
Ketosis (if your body is using fat for fuel, your body will go into ketosis, and flush the ketones out with urine as well as out through your lungs, causing bad breath with an acetone smell)
Intercistial Cystitis
Bladder tumors/cysts/infection

I also have frequent urination with thirst and when to my doctor about it. She didn't find anything wrong in the exam and lab work, and thought it was just stress. So, I have tried to find other causes myself. But, there is also a danger in self-diagnosis. Plus, reading about all of the diseases and conditions can cause paranoia and anxiety. So, be careful when doing research, and remember that the "simplest explanation is probably the right one."
As for me, I have cut down on salt and caffeine and it has helped some. I also try not to go until I really can't stand it. It has helped me build up my tolerance.

Good luck.
