What over the counter medicines can diabetics take for head congestion? |
What over the counter medicines can diabetics take for head congestion? You would be wise to seek professional medical advice from either a doctor or pharmacist. Some decongestants can decrease your insulin requirements which can lead to low blood sugar. So until you have been advised of which brand to use, if any, try this. They are all fine. Even if they are made with sugar, a tablespoon of the stuff will not make your sugar go sky high. Ok they are NOT all fine as Cammie thinks b/c a little sugar can cause real damage to a diabetic. There are a few that are designed for diabetics. I believe Robitussin has one that's for diabetics. I know there are others but can't think of them off the top of my head but I know I've seen them at Target and Walmart. You'd probably do best to ask a pharmacist and they can point you in the right direction. However be prepared to have to just deal with it if you have severe diabetes. My mom can't use anything and stays sick a lot because even the diabetic formulas have sugar substitutes (like a lot of sugar free foods do) and even that still sends her blood sugar through the roof. Good luck finding one that works for you! ;-) only take addvice from doctor...its safer the best one is tussin it really works !! |
