What over the counter medicines can be subsituted for penicillin? There is no over the counter equivalent. There is a generic form of penicillin but is still prescription. All forms of antibiotics are prescription only to ensure that people don't over use them. If they are over used, there is a potential for antibiotic resistant forms of bacteria to be more widespread. None antibiotics are available by prescription only. not all infections require an antibiotic. viral illnesses last 3-21 days, require no antibiotics, and need symptoms treated only. think positively and act like your infection is viral. penicillin is an antibiotic and the reason why the doctor prescribed it , is because you have a bacterial infection and antibiotics are the ones that kill the bacteria and eat yogurt too because antibiotics will wipe out the good bacteria. |
