What over-the-counter medicines should I avoid with low blood pressure? |
And is there anything else to avoid with low bp? I'm not on any prescription meds, so no need to worry there... diphenhydramine.. it's the medication in Tylenol PM and many cough and cold medicines that puts you to sleep. i also have low bp and have found that this particular medication can really cause some problems... you will sleep really hard for a little while and then you will wake with the shakes your heart will race and your chest will hurt... there's nothing that can be done but get through it and it can last for hours. If you have ANY kind of health problems you are ALWAYS best to check with your doctor about what kinds of over the counter medications you are able to take. I think you are worried about having low blood pressure. That is a good thing to have. You are obviously young and healthy with a normal low bp. Mine is about 100/72 and that is very normal. You don't need to be concerned about taking over the counter meds. You may not be aware but our blood pressure fluctuates all the time, even during sleep. Good luck. |
