What's best over the counter medicine for menstrual cramp? |
my girlfriend gets a bad case of menstrual cramp every month. the other day i was trying to show some concern to yet, yet she told me that i am not a woman, thus would not understand her pain. when i told her that i can still sympathize her, she asked me to find an over the counter medicine that really works on her next period. Motrin works well, tell her the key is to start taking it Before she starts feeling the pain, Like the day before she is supposed to get her period. Aleve and a hot water compress (hot towel) or Midol. aleve always helps me- and a heating pad. Midol works amazingly. It's made just for it. Smith and Wesson 3 ibuprofen. it's also an anti-inflammatory which really helps! Hey, tell her to drink a glass of red wine. No kidding! It works! Midol Menstral Complete, blue box Ibuprofen (motrin, Advil) are still the best. My daughters swear by Midol...gl Midol................it works like a dream! Go with Aleve - Naprozen Sodium. That usually works the best for me. Advil (ibuprofen is also good) Midol works wonders. Screw over the counter stuff--- take 2 or 3 aspirin and drink a cup of coffee or anything with caffeine. it's best to see a doctor, because the doctor will know how bad the cramp is and what to prescribe for the pain, over the counter medications are only good for headaches etc. the active ingrediant in most of them is ibuproffen. so just use that bust extra strength, 500 mg or better. My GF takes 1000 mg for cramps and pain. midol..or if that doesnt work..alleve...these can be bought in generic form MIDOL Pamprin!!!!! I love those, and they help you fall asleep! Also helps you not be so grumpy. (lol, good for you for sure). I too get really BAD cramps and nothing over the counter really works for me. Midol and Pamprin work for a little while but they just dull the pain, it never goes away. I sometimes have had success when taking Motrin 800 mg. that medicine that starts with an men, also tylenol eight hour and a hot compress Alieve and a heating pad Midol or pamprin. These were made specifically for "periods" and have other ingredients to help deal with the water retention, bitchiness, and exhaustion. Tell her to drink plenty of water throughout her period, and eat lots of protien. Lay off the fast food greasy stuff, it will make her feel even more sluggish. Excersise is a big must. I know she just wants to lay there but honestly if you can get her to just take a walk it will help. Good luck and watch out for flying objects when you suggest the excersise! There are many otc drugs made specially to relieve PMS cramps and even bloating. I have used tylenol menstrual, and of course you can never go wrong with Midol or any Ibuprofen. Also eating something helps and exercise, even though the last thing we want to do is go running when we feel that way. I think it's nice that you are taking a genuine concern for her pain because you really never will know what it feels like! Also some alcohol, lol I use the common painkiller, paracetamol, also known as panadol. But as different body reacts differently, its best your girlfriend visit a family doctor for advice. i get terrible cramps and i always take 3 motrin...seems to work WONDERS, trust me |
