What over the counter medicine/drug is this?

My boyfriend's sister was talking about an over the counter medicine that you can take that will help you sleep. She said it helps program your body with the dark so you know that that's when you're supposed to sleep or something. I don't remember too much about it but I think it starts with an M. Also she said that she got pregnant while taking it so I'm thinking people use it to help for that too. Thanks for any help.

Melatonin is a hormone, it is your sleep hormone. I would not recommend it for getting pregnant, and I would not recommend it for people under the age of 30... Because it does tweak or elicit a hormonal response.

Also, over the counter melatonin seems suspect to me, because over 90% of supplements sold over the counter have very little or no biological activity in them whatsoever.
