What's the best over the counter teeth medicine?

Can anybody recommend any type of over- the-counter medicine that is effective in relieving tooth ache?

If a filling is out or there is a hole in the tooth there is a very good over-the- counter temporary filling material you can buy with medicine in it to relieve pain. I would try to get some of that. If it is tooth pain then try taking some ibuprofen and do some warm weak salt water rinses, not too strong or you will burn the tissue so stay with 1 teaspoon per 8 oz. of water. Good Luck.

Ambesol is the only one that I know of that really helps with the pain.

Rinse and swish with warm salt water, heavy on the salt, every 1-2 hours until the pain ceases and then get into a dentist to get xrays and se what the problem is.

However, the best thing to do is get a temporary tooth ache reliever and then see a dentist if it persists.

Advil (liqui-gels are what I use) should do the trick for a short-term solution. There are many different reasons why you might have a tooth ache, some being cavities, clenching and grinding habits or growth, but, whatever the reason, only a dentist can diagnosis your problem so see him or her right away, especially if this lasts more than a day or two.

i had one a few months ago. i feel for you. you need penicillin if you can get it. your tooth is infected, hence the pain. you probably won't be able to get that until you get to the dentist. over the counter, tons of ibuprofen. Also, as crazy as this sounds, it works. Take an ice cube and hold it on the web of skin between your thumb and forefinger. If no ice, pinch that area. Don't ask me why, but it will dull the pain of a toothache.
