What is the best over the counter medicine for cold/sore throat?

I have a cold. My throat is really sore, and I can barely speak. I'm taking day quil and nyquil. I also have a fever. What is the best over the counter medicine or whatever that I can take so this can go away faster.

Being I was a victim of strep throat all my childhood Ive got a reasonable take on this issue. Back then I found Cloraseptic to be at the top of their game with soothing sore throats. However, a cheaper fix than that which helps is heavy salt water you make yourself at home and gargle often. I mean 4 to 6 times a day.

I out grew this issue thus I don't know whats on the market now and its promised effects but Cloraseptic spray and those lozenges sure did the trick.

as far as the hoarseness your experiencing that's lack of fluids. Drink more water due to the throat being dehydrated. Look into the back of your throat and if you see any spotting on your tonsils or scapula get to the doctor pronto. Your heading for a whole body breakdown like a full blown flue.

A fever indicates an infection. See your doctor, who may well put you on antibiotics. Don't play games with your health.

It would be best to save your money and drink plenty of fluids. If you feel you need OTC drugs, then maybe you should see a doctor and get the real stuff. OTC drugs are a waste of money.

You may have an infection. A fever is your true way of knowing you usually are fighting an infection somewhere in your body. You may have strep throat. Get to a Dr. ASAP

You need to take Advil or Tylenol for the pain and inflammation (I prefer Advil) and try gargling with warm water and salt mixture...that will also help with the pain. Drink plenty of water, and get some type of lozenge to help keep your throat moist. If this lasts much longer you may want to have yourself checked for strep throat.

try tylenol cough sore throat ,drink plenty of water and juice(orange preferably)take ibuprofen and do the best you can to sleep the fever is an indication you have an infection,keep a close eye on your temp and if it gets high go to the doctor eat soup when and if you get hungry.............good luck and God Bless
