Ovarian cysts and follicles in your ovaries? |
I spent most of the day in the ER in a tremendous amount of pain. What was first assumed to be my appendix because of horrible pain on the right side was actually a ruptured ovarian cyst (measured 3.1 cm). My question is this: my report from the CT scan which talks about the ruptured ovarian cyst says: follicles are what your egg is in (like a sac) until the follicle gets bigger and more developed until you ovulate (release the egg from the follicle). a cyst is a mature follicle that instead of releasing the egg, it just grows, like yours reached 3.1cm. Maybe the report only talks about the right ovary because that's the ovary that had the cyst on it. every woman has follices, and most women develop cysts sometimes too.x |
