Ovarian cancer or a cyst?

What are some of the sure-fire differences in symptoms between an ovarian cyst and ovarian cancer?

Also, is it possible for an ovarian cyst to last for many months, whille only causing pain occasionaly?

Abdominal pressure, fullness, swelling or bloating
Urinary urgency
Pelvic discomfort or pain

Additional signs and symptoms that women with ovarian cancer may experience include:
Persistent indigestion, gas or nausea
Unexplained changes in bowel habits, including diarrhea or constipation
Changes in bladder habits, including a frequent need to urinate
Loss of appetite
Unexplained weight loss or gain
Increased abdominal girth or clothes fitting tighter around your waist
Pain during intercourse (dyspareunia)

Menstrual irregularities

Unfortunately the only way to know for sure is to go to the doctor. cysts can come and go and some may last for a while. It is possible to only have pain intermittantly with a cyst when there is something putting pressure on it or if hormones fluctuate.

Yes, the pain with a cyst can come and go. You need to see your doctor immediately. If it is a cyst, it can be easily treated. God forbid if it is cancer, don't let it spread.

An ovarian cyst can last for years and become as large as a grapefruit. The ONLY way to find out what it is is to get it tested by medical professionals. You probably need a biopsy.

An ovarian cyst can last a long time without some people even knowing that there their. I had an ovarian cyst about 6 months ago that was about 2cm and the next week it grew to 8.5cm and i had to have a hysterectomy. So if you think that you have either of these things going on please go to your doctor. It's nothing to play around with.

A cyst is basically a blood blister (absolute lamen's terms), but you NEED to have a doctor check you out for either one.
