Ovarian Cancer tests?

I read on the internet that sometimes they do a blood pregnancy test to check for ovarian cancer. Is this true and how accurate can the test be? I had one taken like 4 months ago and it came back normal.I had a pap at the end of July which came back normal.But after that I have been having irregular menses(stopping for like 3 months) and pelvic pain and pelvic fullness. Should I be worried for cancer?

A year and a half ago I had a ultrasound which found noncancerous cycts and a little fibroid.But no cancer at that time. Do you know of any cheap facilities that would do a ultrasound in CA.I know longer have medical insurance.

OK first of all I think you answered your question. The irregular periods can be cause by the cysts and most likely by the fibroid. If you have just been tested and it came back OK then I wouldn't worry about cancer. The pain and fullness is caused by both of your problems I have cysts but I have also had a partial hysterectomy were I still have my ovary's and every month when it's time when I would have my period I get pains and fullness due to the cysts. I am only 32 and had this hysterectomy because of abnormal pap test detecting pre cancerous cells in the uterus. If you are really worried then go to the local health department(clinic) they offer free medical service and they will be able to help calm your mind. Hope I helped.

You should go see the doctor. Pap smears check for cervix cancer, not ovarian -- and even then it is not completely accurate. I have never heard of testing the blood for ovarian cancer -- the only blood test I have heard of is prostate.

What they will do is run an ultrasound or at C Scan on you, most likely. If they do see a mass, they will do a biopsy and go from there.

You definitely MUST go to see a doctor. I was just diagnosed with cervical cancer a month ago. I had a colposcopy done by an OBGYN doctor that I was referred to. I got the results back in two weeks that showed I didn't have cervical cancer but what I did have was precancerous cells in my cervix. I just had surgery a little over a week ago (cervical cone biopsy), to see if they could remove the cells and how aggressive they were. I go back at the end of the month for those results. If it's not gone, they will have to do a hysterectomy. It's VERY important that you get this checked out immeditately.
