Ovarian cancer? help please :]? |
What are ways that doctors identify or verify that a person has the ovarian cancer? When doctors do your annual exam, and send the cells that they swab for to the lab...the lab will check the cells for abnormalities, and the doctor will let you know. I know sometimes, ovarian cysts can also turn cancerous. I currently have an ovarian cyst, and they found it because i had pain in my "girl" region. I went to an ultrasound specialist, and they found it with a pelvic ultra sound, as well as a probe that they insert into your vagina. They usually don't check for cancer other than your yearly exam, or if you are having symptoms. i think with the ovaian cancer one of the first ways is by ultrasound....i think also a swab from the vagina but not positive on that one THE FIRST STEP IS TO HAVE A PAP SMEAR TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY ABNORMAL CELLS. THE DOCTOR CAN USUALLY TELL IF ANYTHING LOOKS ABNORMAL WHEN YOU HAVE THIS DONE, IF SO A BIOPSY MAY BE THE OPTION BEFORE HAVING ANY RADICAL SURGERY. |
