Otitis media with effusion?

I have this.. Well according to my doctor. I woke up and every single sound hurt my hearing! Like I was cringing so every single sound. The doctor said there was fluid behind my eyedrum causing the eardrum to bulge out.

And said it was from a cold?!?!?!

So the question im asking is... am i going to have to go through this every time i get a cold now?!

Well you have a middle ear infection it sounds like...and no, you probably won't have it happen every time you have a cold. Usually infants have tubes in their ears to drain the fluid...but if you get many ear infections, they may look into why you keep getting them.

Ear infections are really common.
