What is the difference between urology and ostomy in regards to pouches?

What is the difference between urology and ostomy in regards to pouches?

If you're asking what the difference between urostomy and colostomy/ileostomy pouches are, then basically the difference is the urostomy pouches have a little tap at the end from which to drain the urine rather than have the end shut with a clip or via velcro as in the other bags.

Urostomy bags also have an anti-reflux valve to prevent urine travelling back into the stoma thus minimising a possible kidney infection.

Also, at night the bottom of a urostomy bag may need to be attached to some tubing which, in turn attaches to a drainage system.

Hope this helps.
