Does anyone have good recipes for ostomy patients?

My partner has an ileostomy and has a difficult time eating many foods. Does anyone have recipes that might help me make good, nutritious meals that won't cause a lot of digestive problems? I'm especially looking for ways to incorporate vegetables into recipes in ways that won't cause blockages or distress. And I'm looking for advice on using mushrooms, one of the common "problem" foods that, unfortunately, we both love -- is it at all possible to grind them or use powdered dried mushroom for flavor in dishes without creating problems?

There are no recipes specifically for ostomy patients. This is because everyone is different in what they can and can't tolerate. Most ileostomates don't have a problem with any foods once they've healed. I eat all the 'no no' foods, ie mushrooms, corn, peanuts, etc without a problem. Just have to remember to CHEW, CHEW, CHEW!

How long since your partner's surgery? He needs time to heal and should really be on bland foods during this phase. After a couple of months, introduce new foods into his diet one at a time (yes, even the 'no no' foods). That way, if it does happen to cause an adverse reaction, he can identify the culprit and decide whether to limit it or totally eliminate it from his diet. Remember, only 10% of blockages are actually caused by food - the rest are caused by adhesions. The chances of your partner getting a blockage from food is minimal if he chews well.

Good luck!
