Can i get insurance if i have cancer?

i have osteosarcoma, a bone cancer. It hasnt spread to any part of my body, its only on my knee. Im going to get surgery friday. Would i be able to get insurance before the surgery?

YA has an insurance section where numerous insurance agents will answer questions. Whether or not the insurance company will write you a policy is based on actuarial tables and my guess is that if you have diagnosed osteosarcoma then you will be denied coverage. You might be able to get a policy that excluded cancer but I doubt it. One way you might be able to get some life insurance without answering any medical questions is if you are married and you can buy life insurance through your spouse's company insurance plan. Typically this will be for 100K or much less but this is probably better than nothing. good luck with the bone tumor

You could get insurance probably but not for your pre existing condition of cancer. If you can it would considered a rider or an add on to your insurance whether it be medical or life.

Sometimes they'll deny you by saying it's a pre-existing condition. Other times you can get insurance but your cost will be extremely high. A friend of mine had cancer and his insurance was about $1000 out of pocket every month.

You'd have to take out a cancer policy and hope they don't get your records with the date of diagnosis. I feel for you. Luckily the women's movement has accomplished a lot. There is a breast and cervical cancer program that paid for all my surgeries, treatments etc. You might mention this to your doctor.(you will have to check a box that asks 'have you ever had cancer' the answer is no you haven't before now.
