What can this symptom mean? |
My husband has had pain in his left knee without an injury for the past whole year. He is active and healthy. As far as his heart health and basic health goes. He is 42. I ask here because he will need some extra people telling him to beware if they too like i think it needs to be checked out by a doctor because i on the other hand am practically a hypochonriac and worry it is osteosarcoma. Extreme self siagnosis i know. but i worry and he doesnt. HE WILL NOT SEE A DOCTOR FOR SOMETHING HE SAYS IS SO "MINOR" Please let me know if you are knowledgful of what you think. He's the type of man that races mortocycle's and willl get in an accident or break a leg and NOT go to the doctor. He'll just take time off work to "heal himself." The chances are overwhelming that this is not an osteosarcoma or malignancy of any kind. If he has had no prior trauma to the knee it may be a minor recurrent strain or even early degenerative arthritis. If the pain is minor there is no rush to get an xray. If the pain is affecting his lifestyle, ability to work or is rapidly worsening then prompt evaluation is the ticket. In the end it is his threshold for anxiety that will be the determining factor. If he is extremely empathic he might get an xray simply to quiet your fears. I say....good for him...he's doing his own thing and it obviously works for him. I hurt my knee playing basketball, and it hurt for almost a year. Now I run fine. OK. Some minor ailments will in time cure themselves, Other problems if caught in time can be cured, others of a more serious nature if neglected may result in premature death. So is your Husband qualified to judge ? |
