Is calcium citrate really much better than calcium carbonate for osteoporosis? I read much good about ....? |
I read a lot of positive comments concerning calcium citrate, but it's difficult to get in Europe. Does it make a decisive difference with calcium carbonate? Why is it so? Calcium citrate is better because it is organic and organic supplements are absorbed better than inorganic supplements. Calcium carbonate is regarded as inorganic because it behaves as an inorganic material even though it does actually contain carbon in the carbonate radical but this carbon is regarded as inorganic carbon because it behaves like an inorganic material. I'm not sure how much it matters. You should read around the following site though: Not sure. I would warn you about taking Foxamax, however. It does not increase bone density: it just keeps the bones from sloughing off the old material, making them old and brittle over time. Check out the product from Nikken I put a link to below. It just came out last month, and is the first product designed to actually increase bone density by helping the bones absorb and release nutrients (including the calcium you take) more effectively. |
